The San Juan, Puerto Rico native Jorge Posada accepted an offer from Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Alabama. He was quickly voted best hitter, co-captain and selected to the all-conference team, to earn his number to be retired and inducted into the Alabama Community College Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1990 Jorge was drafted in the 24th round by the New York Yankees, as an infielder. 5 years later Jorge made his MLB debut replacing Jim Leyritz in a September game. Over a year later Jorge would earn his first start in late September of 1996. He played backup to catcher Joe Girardi for several years until finally earning the starting role 2000 season. From there the rest was history for the 5x All-Star, 5x Silver Slugger, 4x World Series Champion. He will go down as a Yankees great and is a member of Monument Park at Yankee Stadium with his number 20 retired after ending his career in 2011.
